Privacy policy

What we collect, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. Written to be read rather than skipped.

Who we are

Wanderly Travel Ltd is registered in England and Wales and operates from 18 Kingsway Court, Holborn, London WC2B 6UN. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

If you have a question about how we handle your data, write to hello@wanderly.travel and we will respond within five working days.

What we collect

We collect only what we need to answer your enquiry and, if you book, to run your trip safely.

  • Contact details you give us — name, email, phone number and country of residence.
  • Trip details — destinations, dates, group size, budget range and any preferences you share.
  • Booking information — passport details, dietary requirements, medical information relevant to safety, and insurance details, collected only after you book.
  • Technical data — anonymised page analytics such as which pages are visited and from which country.

How we use it

We use your data to reply to enquiries, prepare itineraries, make bookings with the accommodation, guides and transport operators on your trip, and to meet our legal obligations as a travel organiser.

Where you have opted in, we also use your email address to send the Wanderly dispatch. You can unsubscribe from any dispatch in one click, and doing so has no effect on any booking.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Who we share it with

To operate a trip we share the minimum necessary information with the suppliers who deliver it — hotels, guides, transfer companies and, where relevant, airlines and insurers. Suppliers receive only what they need to provide their part of the service.

Some of these suppliers are outside the UK and the European Economic Area. Where that is the case, transfers are covered by standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

How long we keep it

Enquiry data that does not lead to a booking is deleted after 24 months. Booking records are kept for seven years to meet accounting and insurance requirements, after which they are deleted.

Marketing consent is reviewed every 24 months; if you have not opened a dispatch in that period we remove you from the list.

Cookie policy

This site uses a small number of cookies and equivalent local storage entries. None of them are used for advertising.

  • Strictly necessary — session and security cookies required for the site to function. These cannot be disabled.
  • Preferences — your saved trips are stored in your browser's local storage under the key wanderly:saved-trips. This never leaves your device and is not sent to us.
  • Analytics — anonymised, aggregated page analytics with IP truncation. You can opt out through your browser's do-not-track setting, which we honour.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted where we have no ongoing legal obligation to keep it, to restrict or object to processing, and to receive a portable copy.

To exercise any of these, email hello@wanderly.travel. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we update the date at the top of the page. If a change materially affects how we use data you have already given us, we will tell you by email before it takes effect.
