Our story
It started with a badly planned trip
In 2012 our founders spent eleven days in Peru and saw nine places. They came home exhausted, with a camera full of photographs of things they could barely remember standing in front of.
Wanderly started the following year on a simple premise: fewer places, longer in each, and a guide who lives there. It is not a complicated idea. It is just unusual enough that people notice.
Twelve years on we work in 64 destinations with around forty lead guides, most of whom have been with us for more than five years. Roughly nine in ten of our bookings now come from somebody who has travelled with us before, or been told to by someone who has.

Flexible planning
Move your departure date free of charge up to 35 days before travel, and hold your deposit as credit for two years if plans change entirely.
Support throughout your journey
A named coordinator from enquiry to return, plus a 24-hour line answered by a person in the region you are travelling in — not a call centre.

01Guides are employed, not gig workers
Every lead guide is on a retained contract with paid off-season months. It is the single biggest reason our guides stay for years rather than seasons.
02Porters and crew are weighed in, and paid above the minimum
On trekking itineraries we enforce load limits at every checkpoint and pay above the legal floor. It costs more. We would rather you knew why.
03We do not sell flights
So our advice about routings, airlines and connections has nothing riding on it. We will tell you when a cheaper itinerary is the better one.
04Group sizes stay small even when demand does not
Twelve is the ceiling on almost everything we run. When a departure fills we open another one rather than adding seats.
